IMPORTANT NOTES ON TRACE MINERALS

Friday, September 24th, 2010
There are a few other trace minerals, or micronutrients, which are considered to be important in human nutrition, such as boron, strontium, nickel, bromine, and vanadium, to name a few. They have been found in the human body in minute quantities (traces), but whether they are important for the body processes or not, it has not been determined, as deficiency symptoms have not been observed.
We wish to caution those who attempt to supplement their diets with the trace elements that although microscopic amounts of these substances are required for nutritional welfare, these micronutrients can be extremely toxic if taken in too large amounts. Therefore, great care should be exercised when considering supplementation of the diet with any isolated minerals, but particularly with trace minerals, so that the body’s delicate chemistry will not be upset and possible harmful effects will be avoided. The best way to avoid toxicity and imbalances, is to use multi-mineral-trace element supplementation, especially in such natural forms as sea water, mined minerals, mineral waters, bone meal, kelp, raw vegetable and fruit juices, and natural foods.

MINERAL GUIDE: COBALT (Co), LITHIUM (Li) AND SELENIUM (Se)

Friday, September 24th, 2010
Cobalt (Co)
Functions
Integral component of vitamin BJ2 and necessary for the synthesis of this vitamin. If cobalt is present in the system in needed amounts, vitamin В12 can be synthesized in the system. Aids in hemoglobin formation.
Deficiency symptoms
May lead to development of pernicious anemia.
Natural sources
Liver. All green, leafy vegetables.
RDA (Recommended Daily Allowances)
Not known. Needed in minute quantities.
Lithium (Li)
Functions
Involved in sodium metabolism and its transportation in nerves and muscles. Associated with function of the autonomic or involuntary nervous systems.
Deficiency symptoms
May lead to nervous and mental disorders, particularly paranoid schizophrenia.
Natural sources
Kelp, sea water, natural lithium-rich mineral springs.
RDA (Recommended Daily Allowances)
Not known. For therapeutic uses, lithium is available in tablet form, as lithium carbonate, on prescription. Can be highly toxic in overdoses.
Selenium (Se)
Functions
Antioxidant; its biological activity closely related to vitamin E. Has a “sparing” effect on the body’s uses of vitamin E. Prevents the hemoglobin in red blood cells from being damaged by oxidation. Can help in regeneration of the liver after damage, especially by cirrhosis. May slow down the aging processes by an inhibiting action on formation of free radicals. Protects body from toxic damage by mercury poisoning. Is essential for the function of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase.
Deficiency symptoms
Liver damage, muscle degeneration, premature aging. Prolonged, severe deficiency may lead to development of cancer, especially in digestive and eliminative tract.
Natural sources
Brewer’s yeast (not primary grown yeast), sea water, kelp, garlic, mushrooms, organically grown foods, seafood, milk, eggs, cereals and most vegetables.
RDA (Recommended Daily Allowances)
Not established. Toxic in overdoses.

PROTECTING YOURSELF AGAINST CADMIUM

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
Although beneficial in minute amounts in natural form, cadmium, as an environmental pollutant, is extremely toxic. It is found in smoggy air, coming mostly from automobiles. Many brands of gasoline and lubricating oils contain cadmium. It is also present in commonly used phosphate fertilizers whereby it pollutes the soil, wherefrom it is taken up by vegetables and particularly by cereal grains. Most of our water supplies, especially so-called soft water, are heavily polluted by cadmium.
One of the common causes of slow, chronic cadmium poisoning is the ingestion of water which comes out of the faucet first thing in the morning, as it had picked up dangerous amounts of cadmium by standing in the pipes overnight. Both the galvanized and the newer black plastic pipes contain cadmium, which is dissolved and leached out by acids in the water. Hot water leaches even more than cold water and, therefore, should be never used for cooking or drinking.
Shellfish and animal livers concentrate cadmium and are dangerous to eat for this reason.
Cadmium poisoning can also be caused by the use of enameled utensils and pots. Toxic cadmium is used to achieve the beautiful colors in enamel (the same way as lead is used in ceramics). It is dissolved by acids in food and ends up in our bodies.
Cadmium is even more dangerous to your health than lead. It can cause high blood pressure and heart disease, iron-deficiency anemia, atherosclerosis, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, lung fibrosis, kidney damage and cancer.
Protection
1.    Vitamin С. It is a specific protector against the toxic and disease-producing effect of cadmium.
Dose: massive doses up to 3,000 mg. a day. In acute poisoning, even more.
2.    Include zinc-rich foods, such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seed and other raw seeds, nuts and whole grains, in your daily diet. Zinc prevents the assimilation of cadmium. Cadmium and zinc are chemical “antagonists.” If zinc is present in the diet in abundance, it winds up being stored in our body in place of cadmium.
3.    Avoid white flour and everything made with it. Seventy-eight percent of the zinc present in whole wheat is removed with bran and wheat germ during the milling process, leaving an abundance of cadmium in white flour.
4.    Avoid using enameled utensils. Use glass, earthenware or stainless steel utensils.
5.    Do not drink regular tap water. Use bottled spring water if you live in the city.

EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENT ON HEREDITY

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
When we come to consider the general relationship between heredity and environment, not as regards disease, but as regards characteristics, we find there has been a great controversy in the past. Can acquired characteristics be inherited? Biologists of the present day are pretty well convinced that they cannot. Here is a big experiment. Jews since many centuries before Christ have been circumcised. And yet after all these centuries the prepuce of a Jewish baby is just like that of a Christian.
But I think that one can see how environment might affect heredity in some characteristics. Darwin in his Origin of Species advanced the argument of the survival of the fittest. If a certain characteristic might benefit the animals possessing it, then those having it to a superior degree have a better chance to survive and pass it on to their offspring. Certainly, the environment might determine what are the best characteristics for survival.
If, as Dr. Wilson told us a few pages back, all people of English extraction have a pedigree going back to William the Conqueror, presumably we are all related. Why do we not then, have the same inheritance? In the nearly ten centuries since the Conqueror, his many genes have occurred in his descendants in a tremendous number of combinations. I think there is an analogy here with the brown trout of the fish hatchery at New Hampton, New Hampshire. In one pool there are many big white trout raised from fingerlings in the regular pools. We are told that about once in every seven million there is a white one. If he is scooped up and put to one side he grows into a big white fish. But bred to a brown one we are right back where we started. One seven-millionth of a chance of our being a genius just because we are proud of our pedigree from William the Bastard?
John Buchan wrote a book called The Path of the King, which is an allegory concerning great inheritance. In the woods and fens of England, long before the Normans conquered at Hastings, a witch gave a young boy a gold ring. Always the possessor would have strength, ability, nobility in the best sense, and perseverance to carry through his good intentions. Through the centuries a series of owners of the ring displayed all the great qualities the witch had promised, but they always perished while carrying out their endeavor. In the final episode Nancy Hanks Lincoln passed the ring to her son Abraham who lost it, but as the mother saw in a deathbed vision, only after he had inherited the gifts of the ring in quantities far greater than ever before. We know of but few possessing the ring throughout its long history, nor do we know the paths by which it came to Lincoln. The accurate tracing of human heredity is an all but impossible task. The possession of great qualities is not necessarily made known to the world for they may well lack the opportunity to be demonstrated. Circumstance plays a large part in man’s existence.
The complications of the laws of heredity are enormous; the possible combinations of traits and the impossibility of accurate human records make predictions futile, but the chances of good progeny are best if humans breed according to the practices of animal and plant fanciers, avoiding bad and choosing good qualities. Which advice, like much we get from our economic advisors, will often prove futile.

YOUR CHILD’S HEALTH/EYE DISORDERS: GLASSES

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Before spectacles are prescribed, thorough eye tests should be performed. Children may require spectacles to deal with a range of problems with vision, including astigmatism, long- or short-sightedness and squint. As children grow, their eyesight changes, so these tests need to be repeated every year, and an adjustment to the prescription may be needed. Because you may be changing your child’s glasses every year, it is advisable to buy inexpensive frames, preferably non-breakable ones.

This may also mean you can afford to buy a spare pair in case one gets lost.

Your child may need much encouragement from you to wear his glasses. Adolescents may prefer contact lenses, but your child should only use them when he has reached an age when he can be responsible for their care and cleaning.

You may like to write the prescription for your child’s glasses here, just in case he loses them.

LEAVING YOUR CHILDREN SOMETHING TO LOVE BY/SOME ANSWERS TO THESE MISASSUMPTIONS REGARDING SEXUALITY: I STOP HIM FROM HAVING INTERCOURSE

Monday, May 18th, 2009

My boyfriend and I have done almost everything. Sorry about that,

Mom and Dad, but you said we should be honest. We have made

out and all that, but we never did it, the real thing. He wants to, but

I stop him from having intercourse. It’s a real battle sometimes.

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL

I think the best thing you could have done is be able to talk about this with your parents, so you shouldn’t apologize. I’m sure they thank you for letting them be a part of this important area of your development. You made a mistake, though. You said that you haven’t done “it,” like touching, kissing, holding, and allowing each other to touch and be touched was not the real thing. You will find as you get older that touching, holding, and kissing are the best, most enjoyable part of sex. Intercourse is for having babies and is one way to be very close, but mere is nothing at all that makes it more arousing than other closeness. The reason everybody talks about it so much and makes it sound so much more exciting is that it seems forbidden, more grown-up. It really is for marriage only anyway, because it requires planning on being together forever before you do it. Remember, too, that intercourse is not something for boys or men, it is for loving people. Talk to your boyfriend about this. Just because you choose not to have intercourse at this time does not mean you don’t want to have intercourse.

YOUR MARITAL HEALTH/WHY HUSBANDS DON’T HAVE ORGASM: MR. MYTH – THE GETTING-IN-TO-GET-OFF MYTH

Monday, May 18th, 2009

You keep asking us to touch and talk. When do we get to do it?

HUSBAND AT FIFTH VISIT TO CLINIC

It’s funny. Intercourse has a whole new meaning now. It’s like it is a part, not an end, of our sex.

SAME HUSBAND AT TWELFTH VISIT TO CLINIC

Insertion of the penis into the vagina is necessary only for conception. Even then, full insertion may not always be necessary. Another major super marital sex lesson is that penis-in-vagina intercourse is totally unnecessary for sexual fulfillment.

Intercourse has had excellent P.R. We are taught early and repeatedly that anything short of intercourse is foreplay, preliminary to the main event. Actually, intercourse is reported as unsatisfying for more than half of sexually active people in the United States. Men and women report more intense sexual response to masturbation, at least from a physical point of view.

Our language of sex contains words such as “mounting,” ‘ ‘humping,” and other mammalian concepts from our agrarian history. The industrial revolution brought such terms as “screwing,” “drilling,” and “balling.” The space age may bring terms such as “blasting,” “orbiting,” “re-entry,” and “burn.” The future may hold robotic sex, even remote-control intimacy. We have many more terms for intercourse than for intimacy in sex.

I have treated hundreds of couples with fertility problems. In their efforts to conceive, they have nearly destroyed their sex lives. They have been treated mechanically, from medicines that affect sexual interest to sperm samples and other medical maneuvers that take sexual intimacy totally out of its loving context. Fertility experts are becoming aware of this problem and referring couples to my clinic to balance the medical intervention for conception.

Super marital sex’s posture of the future involves an entirely new view of what intercourse can be, one free from the mechanical dimensions emphasized in the earlier sex perspectives.

TRUE HEALING – PRACTICAL ADVICE: PROCEDURE FOR SAFE FASTING.

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Before fasting.

Prepare a supply of pure water. Pure means exactly that. Note, that tap water usually contains chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals from pipelines, traces of herbicides, pesticides, solvents etc. and preferably it should not be used for drinking at all. Spring water from a safe source is probably the best. If no spring water is available, collect enough rain water, preferably in the country, where the air is clean. Alternatively well filtered water could be used.

2 days before fasting

Eat only light food, mostly fruit. No meat, no fish, no eggs. No alcohol. Drink at least 2 litres of water. Eat breakfast and lunch only. Skip dinner. Vegetarians could skip this preparation and go to the next phase.

1 day before fasting

Eat only light food, mostly fruit. No meat, no fish, no eggs. No alcohol. Drink at least 2 litres of water. Eat breakfast and a light lunch only. Skip dinner.

In the evening make an enema.. This is the single most important step. Never attempt fasting without making an enema first. The

reason is quite simple. Before fasting, your body expected a new load of food to digest and absorb every day. When your intestines are full, and you stop eating, some of the food waste is absorbed back into your bloodstream. This will cause extra poisoning, because the body absorbs the toxic waste, which was prepared for excretion.

Making the enema cleanses the intestine, and the body, sensing nothing to absorb, enters into a self-purifying mode of operation.

After the enema go to bed early. Your body is already in a self-cleansing state and will continue to cleanse itself when you sleep.

MELANOMA – INTRODUCTION

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and of the Australian states Queensland, with its abundant sunshine heads the list.

This is because of the damage done to the fair skin of most Australians, unequipped by nature to deal with the climate of this continent.

Most of the skin cancers are only locally malignant and rarely spread. The exception is malignant melanoma. This is a cancer of the pigment producing cells of the skin, the melanocytes.

These cells are also found in the retina, the film of nerve endings in the eye which receive the light impulse and in the meninges, the covering tissue of the brain. Melanoma can occur in these areas as well.

This form of cancer is increasing throughout the world and over the last 35 years it has increased some 300 per cent in men and some 600 per cent in women. Why this is so is unknown.

Most melanomas occur in a pre-existing pigmented mole but a few develop from melanocytes in the skin where no previous mole was visible.

CAUSES OF CANCER – EFFECTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Many cancers are thought to arise because of the effects of the environment on the body.

This environmental effect is more than just the effects of industrial pollutants. It involves a lot of other factors such as physical causes, dietary, behavioral and cultural influences.

The first cancer group contains those cancers believed to be caused by well defined external factors. These are mainly tumors of adults and involve the skin, the respiratory tract, the upper digestive tract, the liver, pancreas and bladder. It also includes cancers of the womb and the blood-forming organs.

Personal habits are believed to be the major cause. These include cigarette smoking, alcohol use and sunbathing.

These factors cause 25 to 50 per cent of cancers in men in different populations.

All studies show the great effect of cigarette smoking not only in itself causing cancer but also of combining with other things such as alcohol and asbestos in increasing the risk.
